The black box warning on philanthrocapitalism
« on: November 18, 2016, 12:40:11 GMT »
Interesting article published in the Lancet by Jocalyn Clark The Lancet, London EC2Y 5AS, UK (JC), Linsey McGoey Department of Sociology, University of Essex, Colchester, UK (LM)

Aside from the unlikelihood of $3 billion being enough to manage all disease, there are at least three reasons why the global health community should pay more critical attention to the potentially adverse effects of philanthrocapitalism.

These are discussed in the attached article.

Excellent critical analysis exposing philanthrocapitalism as another mechanism to avoid fair tax and distort priorities established by health experts rather than successful entrepreneurs.  Would the acid test of philanthrocapitalists be whether they would support cash transfers / basic income to the poor as here http://worldbasicincome.weebly.com/ and here https://www.givedirectly.org/
