I've been watching The Wire Season 3 as I do my (near!) daily exercise routine in front of the TV. I thoroughly recommend it to those who want to see performance management concepts in action. Inputs, outputs, outcomes, accountability, role of technicians vs. politicians -  all set out within a gripping story of the 'War on Drugs' in Baltimore. Amongst other things, we learn what can go wrong when public servants (the police) are held accountable for outcomes (crime, the murder rate) over which they do not have full control.

I know I'm a bit slow off the mark - Season 3 came out in 2004!
