Cultural venues and airports seem to have been favourite ways of wasting public money. There are plenty of similar examples from around the world, along with sports stadiums, motorways, high-speed railways and bridges.

Some real classics here! I particularly like the runway at Ciudad Real which is long enough to take the A380.
