Title: Guess where?
Post by: petagny on October 19, 2011, 09:29:16 GMT
Here are a couple of quotes about a place where I have been working recently. Board Members are invited to take a guess as to where it is.

‘Today the PFM system is ready to support the functions of a state, and is a prime model for developing countries in need of PFM reforms. The reforms have allowed ??? to tightly control expenditures, apply rigorous budget preparation and execution practices and establish fiscal transparency and accountability in line with international standards.’ IMF

‘There has, therefore, been impressive development of the PFM system and the building blocks of a sound system are now in place.’ World Bank

It sounds all Greek to me in an Irish sense.  Clearly neither of these two?

Actually, it's the Palestinian National Authority! A solid PFM infrastructure has been developed, including a home-grown financial management information system - 'Bisan' - that seems to work pretty well and didn't cost a great deal.

Wow! What a pleasant surprise and then some key isues in the IMF document are also a pleasant surprise, so thanks for that Mauro - I particularly liked the section starting:

"To sustain the solid economic growth and reduce unemployment, prompt action needs
to be taken by the Government of Israel (GoI) to ease restrictions on economic activity."
