Engaging civil service organisations (CSOs) in SAI Audit process has remained in focus these days. Engaging civil service organizations in Supreme Audit Institution’s audit process has multifold benefits. As members of CSOs are closely working with communities, they may provide insights to SAIs where SAI may focus on (Key areas for audits) at planning stage. CSOs may get involved in execution stage by providing information (in the form of audit evidence) to audit teams, CSO members can be interviewed or focus group discussions can be held with them. At reporting and follow up stage, CSOs can play great role in communication of audit finding to the communities and raise awareness and ultimately hold government officials and agencies accountable towards tax payers’ money.
However, modalities on how to get CSOs and their representatives engaged in SAI audit process has become a matter of discussion in SAI community.

Please find some readings on the subject matter.
