Evaluations of General and Sector Budget Support
« on: February 17, 2015, 14:31:15 GMT »
Attached you can find a synthesis of the seven evaluations of General and Sector Budget Support, undertaken in Tunisia, Mali, Zambia, Tanzania, South Africa, Mozambique and Morocco over 2010 - 2014. These represent the full set of evaluations completed to date, following the revised methodological approach for evaluation of budget support, adopted by the OECD-DAC Network on development evaluation in 2012.

QUOTE
Budget support can work and it can work in a set of quite diverse circumstances, including in circumstances that are really not very favourable. Each of the seven countries had some kind of a governance problem. […] And yet despite that they were able to achieve significant results in the area of service delivery and in the area of reform. Most notably for sectors like health and education where development partners and governments agreed on how to proceed, good progress was made.
